A GCSE short comic (2/3)

The Mist

A nine page comic I made for a mock exam for my GCSEs. I had 10 hours to make this during the exam, and the theme of the project was “Identity”.

“The Mist” follows the story of a young Aryin (a mythical creature who can catch glimpses of the future), who starts to question long held beliefs of his species, such as why they must never leave the misted forest he calls home, and humans are seen as “pure evil”.

The metaphor of the forest being covered in mist represents the Aryin’s species clouding their vision from being able to see beauty in life (in the metaphor the starry sky), by holding onto old beliefs about certain types of people (humans).

I created this in January of 2024, in a 10 hour mock. I had several hours to plan and develop this piece beforehand, and you can see the planning I did below. However, I didn’t manage to plan as in detail as my graphic novel projects, as it was an exam and quite rushed for time. The final short comic I created for my GCSEs was “The Dream’.
